El Parque Nacional Tortuguero (PNT) se encuentra en la provincia de Limón en el noreste de Costa Rica y forma parte del Área de Conservación Tortuguero. El parque cuenta con una increíble biodiversidad, debido a la existencia dentro de la reserva de once diferentes hábitats, incluyendo bosques, pantanos, playas y lagunas. El clima es tropical, muy húmedo, y recibe hasta 250 pulgadas (6.400 mm) de lluvia al año. La reserva también se incluye en el Humedal Caribe Noreste, un humedal de importancia internacional según la Convención de Ramsar. Sus playas son lugar de anidación clave para las tortugas marinas amenazadas, como la tortuga carey, lora, verde y baula. Hay más de 400 especies de árboles y alrededor de 2.200 especies de otras plantas. Se han registrado unas 24 especies de orquídeas.

Tortuguero National Park (TNP) is located in the Limón Province of northeastern Costa Rica and it is part of the Área de Conservación Tortuguero. The park has incredible biological variety, due to the existence within the reserve of eleven different habitats, including rainforest, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. It is located in a tropical climate, is very humid, and receives up to 250 inches (6,400 mm) of rain a year. The reserve is also included in the Humedal Caribe Noreste, a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. Its beaches are key nesting ground for endangered sea turtles, such as Hawksbill, Loggerheads, Green and Leatherbacks. There are more than 400 species of trees and approximately 2,200 species of other plants. About 24 species of orchids have been recorded.
