Houlletia tigrina Linden ex Lindl., Paxton's Fl. Gard. 3: 171 1853.

TYPE: [Colombia]. Wild on the ground in New Grenada, in the province of Ocaña, growing in forests of Weinmannia, where it was found by Mr. Schlim, one of Mr. Linden's collectors, in June and July, 1851, at an elevation of 4800 feet, Mr. Schlim s.n. (holotype, K; illustration of type).
