Lycaste aromatica (Graham) Lindl., Edwards's Bot. Reg. 29: misc. 16. 1843.

Bas.: Maxillaria aromatica Graham, Edinburgh New Philos. J. 1: 173–174. 1826.

TYPE: This very pretty parasite is a native of Mexico, where the bulbs were procured by Lord Napier, and obligingly communicated to the Royal Botanic Garden at Edinburgh in 1825 (holotype, E).
