Pterichis costaricensis Ames & C. Schweinf., Schedul. Orch. 10: 10. 1930.

TYPE: Costa Rica. [Alajuela]: Poas Lake, 5, 1928. 8500 feet altitude, "In grassy swamp with some sphagnum. Stem with short glandular hairs. Sepals light green. Lip hooded and varying from deep green to yellow with dark purple markings. Ovary also hairy.", H.E. Stork 2344 (holotype, AMES).
